Highlights : I watch and wait for a model to give me clues about how to photograph them. On an October morning, under cloudy skies in Bush’s Pasture Park in Salem, a model named Katie looks deeply into my lens. Under a canopy of towering trees, her eyes seem to light up. Indoors, in the nearby Bush Barn Art Center, her eyes seemed to catch the fire in a composition by Francisco Bautista. Now I know what to look for. Big, expressive and incredibly focused, with an intensity that captures my viewfinder, the eyes have it.
