A new Bruce MacGregor Photography Exhibit: The Aftermath Project Comes to the Hillsboro Library

I’m happy to let you know that Hillsboro Main Library will host a two month presentation of The Aftermath Project, Travels through Global Warming, during January and February, 2024.   An opening reception is planned for January 4, between 6:30 and 7:30 pm, and all are welcome:  upstairs Gallery, Hillsboro Main Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Pkwy, Hillsboro, OR 97124 .

The Aftermath Project is a photo documentary about the impact of the 2020 Oregon Labor Day fires on communities and individuals spread across the western half of the state, and the rebirth that followed.  It required a year of field work and hundreds of miles of travel through areas affected by the largest single wildfire event in Oregon’s history.

The Aftermath Project first appeared in the exhibit Up from the Ashes, designed by Krista Eddy of the Lincoln City Cultural Center in 2021, and appeared as a Newport Visual Arts Center exhibit of the same title in 2022.  It has been set to the orchestration of Barber’s Adagio for Strings, performed at the 2021 Siletz Bay Music Festival as a tribute to those who survived the fires, and those who sadly didn’t.

The Aftermath Project is a photographic meditation on the human spirit in the face of threats like global warming.
