Changing the Energy of the World:
The whimsical tapestries of Sheila Meserschmidt
Assignment: Portrait of artist Sheila Meserschmidt, and recent work
Location: Sheila’s studio, Aloha, Oregon
Highlights: In Sheila’s own words:
“If my art was a music playlist, I think it would be described as eclectic. Certainly, when I’m working, I move from the classical music of Bach, Chopin and Debussy, to the jazz/blues of Joe Bonamassa and Diana Krall, or perhaps Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Botti, or Manhattan Transfer.”
The results have taken shape as digital, pastel, fabric and wool originals. Recent examples of Sheila’s tapestries are orchestral in scope: Free Play, Bluezin’ and Sky Riders (top to bottom, below) average about 55” on the longest side, and fill the room with color, story and energy.
